|

- Relationship problems
- Problems at work

Beechy also divides his time between his private practice and his interest in
enhancing work performance through coaching, both individually and in residential
seminars.
Beechy and Jo also work together creating and running workshops
for a wide range of clients ensuring that each one is tailor made for the participants.
Clients greatly enjoy having the opportunity to experience both their unique approach
and the unusual dynamic of a “true” husband and wife team.
On a very personal level Beechy and Jo have always spoken openly
about Beechy’s
own problems with addiction and the impact that had on their relationship. Whilst
he has remained completely free of drugs and alcohol for over 22 years they both
are always willing to draw upon their own experiences which many people find both
helpful and inspirational.
Here is a snapshot of their qualifications and experiences:-
Beechy Colclough
Beechy
was born in Belfast in 1948 and spent the sixties pursuing his passion for music.
He was a percutionist in the Belfast Youth Orchestra and was a drummer in a well-known
and popular Irish band. After many years of battling with his addiction problems
he was very fortunate to be offered help at a residential centre in Plymouth and
completed treatment there. Since then his life has taken off, (although that does
not mean that he has forgotten his turbulent journey or the damage that his drinking
caused). Eventually he was encouraged to train as an addictions counsellor which
he did at Broadreach House, Plymouth under the supervision of Professor Victoria
Holbert from The Minnesota Community College, US. During this time beechy also completed
a one year diploma in transactional analysis at Plymouth Polytechnic. He has also
undertaken periods of study in the United States, completing courses in psychodrama,
as well as participating in the setting up of the International Association of Eating
Disorders Professionals.
Beechy has become very well-known due to his appearances on television
having regularly appeared on GMTV and This Morning. He has also hosted his own TV
series for British Sky Broadcasting and Jo has made many appearances with him. Beechy
has also worked regularly for the BBC in Northern Ireland and has had two very popular
programmes based around his unique interviewing and counselling skills. Jo Colclough
Jo was born in the midlands and followed a very different path
to beechy. Having completed her “a” levels went to Exeter University
and obtained a degree in social sciences. Whilst deciding what to do next she went
off on holiday to Guernsey and it was there she met beechy.
Having pursued a career in personnel recruitment and helped set
up a very successful business Jo changed career. This was very much as a result of
her own experiences watching Beechy makes incredible changes through his own therapy
which encouraged her to become involved. In 1987 she commenced her in-house training
at a treatment centre to become an addictions counsellor, and was fortunate enough
to spend time in the United States experiencing different treatment programmes for
both addictions and eating disorders. She spent time at Hazelden Treatment Centre,
Minnesota participating in their family programme. She also obtained a Diploma at
the University of Kent at Canterbury and later became a Master Practitioner in NLP.
Jo made good use of her research background when she presented
a paper on “coping
styles” at the Annual Conference of Psychiatrists in 1992.
Jo has appeared on the “Beechy” programme on Sky TV and has also appeared
on This Morning, A Time & A Place and “Kilroy”. For further information about Jo and Beechy's work - please click here to send an email
