Beechy remains very proud of the first book he wrote called “The
Effective Way To Stop Drinking”. This is very much a book from the heart and
he was chosen by Penguin to write this book because of his own experiences.
Beechy and Jo have since started writing together and were delighted
when BBC Books approached them to write “Get Up And Do It”.
Beechy is currently writing for the Sunday Mirror and is looking
forward to re-writing his original book on eating disorders. They both have
an exciting project lined up for 2005 which will be revealed in due course.
Here is a snapshot of their recent publications:-

We all have goals but sometimes they seem like unobtainable fantasies, and we feel we have to settle for second best. In "Get up and Do It!" readers learn how to make their goals realities in steps, using easy-to-use techniques and the most up-to-date strategies.
As they learn the essentials, readers develop their understanding, practise vital skills and make motivational techniques a feature of their lives. The motivational plan enables readers to plan, practise and adopt techniques - including positive thinking, motivation and problem-solving skills - to suit their own needs. It also becomes an essential tool: at a glance readers can measure their progress, find reassurance in moments of self doubt, recognise their achievements and use it to help them resolve problems in the event of setbacks.

The Effective Way to Stop Drinking
Beechy Colclough (preface by Sir Elton John)
Paperback 256 pages (January 27, 2005) |
Publisher: Penguin Books Ltd |
ISBN: 014026664X
Alcohol is one of the most seductive drugs available to us: it makes us feel relaxed, confident and content, although we may know we are none of these things. While heavy drinkers may be cocnerned about their habit, social and moderate drinkers may not wish to give up but may want to cut down or ensure that their drinking does not get out of hand. This sympathetic and authoritative book gives readers advice on how to assess whether they have a drinking problem, and if so, what to do about it. By examining the reasons why people drink and exploding the myths surrounding alcoholism, Colclough, himself a reformed alcoholic, suggests ways drinkers can change their attitudes and habits in order to move on.
